Bordeaux Region |
Bordeaux is undoubtedly the world’s best-known wine region. Even those who can’t tell their Arbois from their Echézeaux know that Bordeaux is the capital of the wine world. The vineyards here cover an area of over 100,000 hectares and produce 660 million bottles of wine per year – making it France’s biggest wine region and representing one quarter of the total Appellation Contrôlée production of France. There are 57 appellations (specific wine regions), some of which produce wines of five-star quality – with astronomical prices to match. The trick in Bordeaux, more than in any other wine region in France, is to spot the up-and-coming châteaux within the region – and we have four to offer you. |

Château Monconseil-Gazin Vineyard
Code: WWXBAUD
Not far from the 17th century citadel of Blaye, our winemakers, Jean-Michel and Françoise Baudet, have worked hard to achieve their dream of creating a new appellation – Blaye – which officially became the Grand Cru of the area in 2000. The château was built around 1500 and since 1894 five generations of the Baudet family have produced quality wine here. Our exclusive wine is a rich concentrated claret made from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot produced from the estates’ oldest vines.

Château de la Grave Vineyard

It combines a lovely perfumed bouquet of ripe blackberry fruit with a nose of vanilla from the oak – and the fact that you can also stay here in one of the three elegant chambres d’hôtes will guarantee that you will want to return.
