Loire Valley Region |
| The Loire Valley serves up history, architecture and gastronomy in ample helpings. It has a mild climate, a gentle landscape, the softest light in France and is renowned for its breathtaking Châteaux. Who can fail to be enchanted by the beguiling Azay-le-Rideau, the sublime Chenonceau, or the breathtaking glory of Chambord? Then we have the wines – wines with strange names, and often from unfashionable places. It was here where the history of 3D Wines began and where the seeds of our love for France first blossomed. We liked the wines, we liked the winemakers and we loved the whole French experience. |

Domaine du Carroir Perrin Vineyard
Code: WWXRIFF
The town of Sancerre perches high on its volcanic hilltop and the view from the ramparts follows the Loire river and the rolling vineyards to the west. Today it is the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety that produces the world famous white wine, but the locals consider the much rarer red Sancerre to be just as good! The Riffault family have been making wine in Sancerre for generations and have won many awards. Our exclusive Les Caillottes comes from a parcelled of old vines growing on stony, limestone slopes renowned for producing fresh, fruity, aromatic wine. Domaine de Salvert Vineyard
Code: WWXBURE
Although Georges Bureau did not start out as a winemaker, both he and his wife Violaine come from winemaking families in Bordeaux, so they had plenty of expertise to call upon when they decided to follow their passion and buy Domaine de Salvert in 1997. Georges is a charming man who loves any opportunity to use his perfect English and show off his vineyard to Partners and he produces two exclusive, award-winning red and white Anjou wines for us. Our exclusive white Cuvée 1895 is fruity and dry with a hint of lemon, but a small amount of Chardonnay added to the Chenin Blanc gives it a buttery smoothness. The red is a medium-bodied fruity wine with a distinctive blackcurrant and raspberry bouquet.
Domaine de Salvert Vineyard. Winemakers: Georges and Violaine Bureau. Wine: Crémant de Loire Cuvée Sophie (sparkling rosé) Anjou rouge Les Noëlles (red).

Domaine de la Cune Vineyard
Code: WWXMARY
Planted in the 17th Century by the Abbot of Breton on the instructions of Cardinal Richelieu, the wine from the tiny appellation of Saumur-Champigny has developed a cult following. Produced from the Cabernet Franc grape, Saumur-Champigny is immediately appealing with its vivid fruit aromas – blackcurrant, raspberry and redcurrant. It is a ‘big’ wine, filling the mouth with sumptuous fruit flavours balanced by gentle acidity and smooth tannin. Charming brothers Jean-Luc and Jean-Albert Mary, both qualified oenologists, are careful to ensure that traditional wine-making methods of the appellation are enhanced by technology rather than replaced by it. Their careful husbandry results in regular medals at the International Wine Challenge, culminating in 2006 with a rare Gold Medal and first ever Trophy for Loire reds.
Domaine de la Cune Vineyard. Winemakers: Jean-Luc and Jean-Albert Mary. Wine: Saumur-Champigny Les 3 Jean (red).
Maximum allocation: 4 cases. Next option available: March 2009.
As a Partner at Domaine de la Cune your allocation of wine is:
Saumur-Champigny Les 3 Jean 2007 (red) 7,10€ per bottle (2008 price* exc. VAT) 4 cases (48 bottles) maximum

La Jarnoterie Vineyard
Code: WWXMABI
The appellation of St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil produces a delicious red wine from the Cabernet Franc grape. It is a wonderfully refreshing wine with youthful vitality and charm – light and fruity, yet with plenty of balancing acidity and soft tannin that will help the wine to age well for many years. La Jarnoterie provides a truly captivating visit, as the family cellar – the Caves de Cochamtorille – is in fact a huge cavern hewn into the tufa rock that you can actually drive into! Our exclusive Cuvée Carine is made from some of the domaine’s oldest and best vines, and is a supple fruity wine with red fruit on the palate.
