The Chianti wine region is located in central Tuscany, Italy and is famed for the straw ‘fiasco’ basket that the squat bottle sits within. Although a somewhat traditional aspect, some wine makers still use this technique today. The Sangiovese grape makes up the majority of the Chianti blend, with the likes of Merlot and Syrah grapes also included. The traditional shape for a Chianti glass is similar to that of a Bordeaux, the bowl is slightly smaller in both width and height but with a considerably lower capacity.
